I dont know how this was originally packaged but if one had the original packaging no one would ever question that conclusion. The bag is super clean inside and out with no blemishes. The rod is perfect with no hook holes in the cork, no wear evident on the very bottom of the handle, etc. I will also add that there were a lot of new vintage items around this house. Lastly, the reel is in the same condition. This would make an excellent gift for the guy or girl who loves vintage.
